Dear Developers, With the compile flags used in current and future Ubuntu builds, there is a problem in demos/ppl_lpsol/ppl_lpsol.c: ppl_lpsol.c:271: error: format not a string literal and no format arguments ppl_lpsol.c:272: error: format not a string literal and no format arguments ppl_lpsol.c:273: error: format not a string literal and no format arguments This is best solved by using fprintf(stdout, "%s", usage_string1); and so forth. While the various maintainers have discretion in allowing additional changes, they should, at this point, being using that discretion sparingly. We should now be focusing clearly on getting 4.4 out the door, not on adding more things to it. As expected, there are a number of performance and a few correctness issues stemming from IRA. These include bootstrap problems on popular platforms. There are also several issues that seem to be related to the use of assembler CFI directives. Making sure <gmp.h> and libgmp.* do match

I have been bitten by the following problem on a bi-arch system. By accident, I was compiling with the 32-bit version of <gmp.h> and linking with the 64-bit version of libgmp.*. The failure I got was not trivial at all (only one test out of thousands was failing), and debugging took a long time. Do you know a defense against this kind of errors? More specifically: - for version mismatches, the obvious thing to do is to compare the result of gmp_version() with the macros __GNU_MP_VERSION, __GNU_MP_VERSION_MINOR, __GNU_MP_VERSION_PATCHLEVEL; - I am wondering if something similar can be done for ABI mismatches: for example <gmp.h> defines __GMP_BITS_PER_MP_LIMB: does libgmp.* "leak" this information so that a comparison can be made?
