Provide whatever is needed to make it visible from the outside world such as DLL-export statements. If I would have to design in again, I would have used an integer return value, so the install function can signal success/failure. A question on install() and uninstall() in foreign modules

Hi there, I understand from the documentation that the install() function returns an object of type install_t. However, install_t seems to be defined as void in SWI-Prolog.h. In other words, code like install_t install() { ppl_initialize(); PL_register_extensions(predicates); } would seem to miss a return statement, but adding a return statement would be an error. So, what is the purpose of install_t? And why there is not something similar for uninstall()? Just to make another test (I have done a million anyway) I have tried replacing Pl_Exec_Continuation(a_throw, 1, &t); with Emit_Syntax_Error(...) in my application (http://www.cs.unipr.it/ppl/) and I observe exactly the same segmentation violations and illegal instructions. May it be because Pl_Exec_Continuation is implemented by means of setjmp/longjmp and I am doing something that is incompatible with them? What can it be? Hi Martin, in the config.log you have included there is configure:3692: g++ -o conftest -g -O2 -I/opt/gmp-4.1/include -fexceptions conftest.cc -L/opt/gmp-4.1/lib -lgmp -lgmpxx >&5 configure:3695: $? = 0 configure:3697: ./conftest ./conftest: error while loading shared libraries: libgmpxx.so.3: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory This would seem to indicate that in /opt/gmp-4.1/lib there is no file named libgmpxx.so*: is that the case? This is strange if you have configured GMP with (among the others you mention) the option --prefix=/opt/gmp-4.1 and if you did not forget to run `make install' after `make'.
